Many of you may have seen the “Please do not touch the art” signs scattered throughout the gallery, or perhaps had the uncomfortable experience in a museum when an alarm goes off or security guard chastises you for getting too close to the art. Although we often want to close that distance and interact with artworks more intimately, the rules prohibit us from indulging that temptation. However, in this exhibit, we’re letting you break all the rules and not only allowing, but even encouraging you to touch the art! We are pushing the boundaries of the normally passive experience looking at art, and giving visitors the opportunity to touch, play, and experience the art in a different way.

“Please Touch the Art” will provide a more immersive and sensory experience by allowing you to connect with the artwork on a deeper level, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of the art, while also making the experience more engaging and memorable. This exhibit also makes art more accessible to people with vision impairment, who might not otherwise be able to fully experience or appreciate art. By allowing people to touch the art, this exhibit will create a more inclusive and welcoming environment, where people of all abilities can engage with and enjoy art.
