Skate the City

Join us on the Midland Greenway for Skate the City! Finally back after our inaugural event in 2019, we look forward to the people of Gainesville gathering outside together on Sunday afternoon, April 30, 2023 from 1-4pm to enjoy all the Greenway has to offer.

Bring your skate boards, roller skates, roller blades, bikes, scooters, strollers… if it rolls without a motor, roll on down for some fun! (Tricycles? Unicycles? We might have giveaways for groups with themed outfits, unique rides, and more!)

On the Midland Greenway near 682 Grove Street,  Silverstar Productions’s DJ will set the atmosphere with fun music, along with food and drinks by the Inked Pig BBQ, King of Pops Ice Cream, and Drinks by Downtown Drafts.  Take a break from rolling and play yard games (for adults and kids), and enjoy an art project with Celestial Studios, who will be live painting a huge canvas and hosting a painting project for kids who can paint little skateboards, skates, or bicycles.

The Skate Park will feature a skateboard competition, along with music by “Let there be Rock, Ga” Music School. Carniceria Tapatia and Parks and Rec’s Concessions will be set up in the parking lot.

You’ll also find Explore Gainesville’s new mobile visitor’s center set up, where you can get information about all the things happening in our wonderful city.

Experience the public art scattered along the way and visit Gainesville’s recently installed Inclusive Playground, Dog Park, and Fitness Court.  This is a great opportunity to explore one of Gainesville’s newest greenspace destinations that is becoming a favorite for all citizens.
